NonPhysical

"Lady, i will touch you with my mind.
Touch you and touch and touch
until you give
me suddenly a smile,shyly obscene

(lady i will
touch you with my mind.)Touch
you,that is all,

lightly and you utterly will become
with infinite care

the poem which i do not write.”

My impression of Paris

Everyone thinks Paris as a romantic city.

Normally, It's all about Eiffel Tower, Notre Damn, the Louvre.. etc.

As a photographer, I hold no objection towards the wonderfulness of those architectures and the tourist attractions.

But what interested me the most, are still the people, the culture, and the little things to be observed.

It's intriguing for me to find out what are the similarities and differences we hold in a culture so distanced.

Paris is changing. As you stroll on the street in the first district, more English than french is to be overheard. While the smell of the cigarette is still everywhere.

This is my first impression of Paris: the smell of the cigarette.

Also, street performers are everywhere. Mind not their quality, they are always there to please the tourists. Even in the metro, one could find street musicians offering to share a song with you. (Of course you have to pay latter!)

They  love reading. Strolling around Paris, you'd find lots of bookstores everywhere.
Old bookstores and new bookstores. Visited by most people. Most of the time, one can only find books in french.

At the same time, you could also find people reading everywhere. On the metro, in the park. The "reading" atmosphere is quite popular in this city.

"A Leisure Lifestyle".
Every Sunday afternoon, the retirees would gather at a square in front of the market place.

They would set up the microphone and instruments to invite volunteers to  play the music and sing with them; meanwhile, they also encourages the passerby to dance with them to celebrate the joy of a Sunday afternoon.

How lovely!

Like everywhere else in France, french eat "Baguette" (The long french bread in the photo), and there's no exception for Parisien.

A secrete about Baguette is that they are only fresh for one day. Normally, after the second  day it gets really hard like a stone.

Another often seen scene: texting and smoking during the pause.

An old man in his own cafe, ordering only a cup of water.

The business is now carried on by his son.

When its sunny, everyone is out for the sunshine. A huge contrast to the Taiwanese society where most people especially women eager to hide in shades when the sun comes out.

Before departing to Europe, I've always heard of this differences but never have a chance to understand how the difference is made.

I've discovered that there reason for the taiwanese ladies to find shades is because of the influence of the asian sense of beauty: the whiter skin you have the prettier you are. But at the same time, you can't  deny that most of the time it is sunny in Taiwan. The summer last for six months in a year. With the high humidity and temperature, it is more likely that normal people prefer to stay in door with A.C. and want to hide away from the sun since it is just " too much".

In contrast, in Europe, summer lasts maxim two months. They have heater instead of air-conditioners at home. It is not hard to imagine that when they see the sun, they grab the chance to indulge themselves in the warmth since it's less often seen, especially in a cloudy city like Paris. Also, they view the people with more tanned skin as healthier and prettier. When they are tanned, it means that they are wealthy enough to travel to the south where there's more sun.

How interesting to see the differences in two cultures while knowing it that they share the same concept:  It's more valued when its less seen; it's more cherished, when we don't have it. Exactly the same idea as the business idea nowadays.

I'm just wondering, would it be a day when people can finally cherish what they have and who they are, instead of dyeing their hair blond or black.

Travelers are everywhere.

See you next time!

Lost

Lost

what do I WANT

what does the world desire

the sentiments, the composition, or the fairy-tales

what essentially,

defines classic or fine art

not feeling balanced

as the world is never by himself

nor monolingual, nor homogeneous

If I ask you, what is art?

does drinking coffee in the morning count?

we live in art or we create art?

Is it ever good enough,

or should it never be good enough?

Lost in traffic light and tree.   winter, Paris.

[Troyes] After a wedding

A Saturday  afternoon, we were wondering, what's going on?

Why was there so much noise outside the entire day?

Who's having a party so close to church?

Troyes is a small city, situated in the Champagne region, 2hrs drive from Paris.

Wine and Champagne are cheaper here; all kinds of celebration are often held.

Looks like an important social event. Everyone was properly dressed.

On the right, the french way of greeting  "faire le bise" by saying hello and goodbye.

Normally, there's only a Cathedral in a town, and when it's full, there would be churches springing out.

The priest was still wearing the centuries-old vestment.

It  made a great contrast with the bodyguard standing at his left and the modern lady standing in the Cathedral.

Seeing, the petals on the floor, one can imagine that there was a wedding.

Even kids are here.

He and his father shared the same orange. How lovely!

Ladies had made an effort to dress up, gorgeous!

Couples hand in hand, giving their sincere blessing to the newlyweds.

I was enchanted by the elegance of the french "chapeau" (hats).

I've started to talk to people.

This is the beautiful generation: grandmother, daughter, mother.

Wedding can always bring families together.

The combination of the ancient buildings from the 17th century and the crowd today.

Before leaving

It seemed like this lady was waiting for something/someone.

Waiting for being able to do something

As kids waiting to grow up

Teenagers wait to be legal

while time waits for no one

We've wasted our lives waiting for the better, the happier

or is it better to stop waiting

and cherish, what we have.

"Bonjour, vous attendez à qqn?", I asked.

She replied,  "Oui, j'attend mon marie."

"Bien sûre" , she replied with a charming smile

" Vous prouvez prétendre que vous attendrez qqn", I told her.

Twenty

"Being even now only a young woman of twenty,

one who mentally and sentimentally had not finished growing,

it was impossible that any event should have left upon her an impression that

was not in time capable of transmutation.

And thus her spirits, and her thankfulness, and her hopes, rose higher and higher.

Tess Durbeyfield, then, in good heart, and full of zest for life, descended the Egdon

slopes lower and lower towards the dairy of her pilgrimage."

 -- Thomas Hardy

----Château des ducs de Bretagne, France

Each day,

I would stop breathing for two seconds to check if I am still here

or is it all a dream.

For a girl twenty years-old

spring never ends

The thought of freedom after university

makes her blossom, makes her giggle

how much  sillier can the world be?

[Venlo, Netherlands] Little Angels 小天使

Venlo is a lovely small town in the southeastern Netherlands,

situated in the province of Limburg, close to German Border.

It was my first time experiencing how really close are the European countries.

A ten minutes drive brings you to another culture!

The first impression I got from my dutch friends knowing that I was visiting Venlo was:

" There's nothing to do there!"

Perhaps, but I also trusted my friend Bas who had invited me to stay at his parents' place while he's away in Taiwan and I was studying in Europe.

He said, " The nature is awesome!"

After a six days visit in Netherlands,

It turns out that my favorite place in Netherlands should be Venlo,

I love the nature and the hospitality here!

Before seeing some landscape, maybe it's better to know the people first.

Her name is Juulke (Julie), the elder sister.

They just came back from a wedding when I first met them.

Her name is Noortje (Norah), the younger sister.

They love to play at their grandparents' garden!

Noortje

Noortje loves to play with sand,

Her grandmother always said that she could be a sand artist one day!

Juulke

Juulke loves to play the swings!

Noortje

Noortje was eating fries. Their grandmother said they could eat french fries every friday.

The traditional dutch dishes are mainly consist of fried food.

Since they are  really close to Belgium,  french fries is  one of their specialties.

While you walk on the streets, you could always find little shops at the corner sales only french fries,

dipped with a special kind of mayonnaise: Extremely delicious!

The grandmother had told me that when they visited Taiwan, to avoid too much rice-eating dinners;

sometimes, they escaped to McDonald's for some changes.

Playing sand in the forest!

Finally, lots of thanks to the Brûlls! Hope you will visit Taiwan soon!

About waking up early

J'adore d'apprendre ta langue

Car je n'aime pas attendre

Tu sais,

Je n'ai pas la patience.
